The old me…
Hey, I’m Sarah.
And at 57, standing 5’7, I was carrying 203 on my frame.
If someone had told me I’d be hiking in Yosemite six months later?
I would’ve laughed so hard I might’ve pulled a muscle.
But guess what?
That’s exactly what I did yesterday!
Life is funny like that.
My husband and I always dreamed of living near the mountains.
We’d talk about stepping outside and having hiking trails right in our backyard.
But that dream?
Yeah, it got put on hold… Because of me.
See, I’ve had three amazing kids.
And each one left me with an extra “gift.”
Every time I gave birth, I felt a little heavier, a little more exhausted.
Looking in the mirror?
It sucked.
Big time.
And I know what you’re thinking… just eat better, right?
But when you’re 57, juggling work, family, and life…
Counting lettuce leaves isn’t exactly a priority.
Plus, I love food.
Like, LOVE food.
Things got bad:
❌ My grandkids stopped asking me to play—because who wants a grandma who’s out of breath after two minutes?
❌ My friends? They stopped calling.
Even a short walk had me gasping like I just ran a marathon.
❌ My husband? Still went hiking… alone.
Because taking me along would have required a full rescue mission.
Not exactly romantic.
And the worst part?
I could see it in his eyes.
He still loved me, but something was missing.
That spark we had when we first met?
Gone.
Then something weird happened…
I was sitting on my favorite park bench (you know, the sturdy one)…
When my sister called.
She wouldn’t stop talking about this thing called the “Ice Water Hack“.
Yeah, I rolled my eyes too.
Until she told me she’d dropped three dress sizes.
Later that day (because the universe has a sense of humor)…
I saw a post about a woman older than me who lost almost 100 doing the same thing.
It felt like a sign.
But I’m not reckless…
I called my doctor first.
Showed her exactly what it was.
And she actually said: “This is perfect for you.”
That’s when things got interesting:
The new renewed me…
✅ My clothes started getting loose.
✅ That scary number on the scale? Started dropping.
✅ I actually had energy again.
✅ Those pre-baby jeans? They fit.
✅ And food? Somehow tasted even better.
The crazy part?
I didn’t have to give up the foods I love.
No insane meal plans.
Just a few seconds every morning.
Now?
I’m actually living my life instead of watching it from the sidelines.
Being outdoors is fun again.
And at home…
Well, let’s just say my husband is looking at me differently these days. 😉
I feel happier, lighter, alive again.
